MODALITY DETAILS

SHOCKWAVE THERAPY

Shockwave therapy uses mechanical energy in the form of acoustic waves that increase local circulation and stimulate the body’s healing process. Treatment is targeted on the damaged tissue through the handheld applicator and can enhance the breakdown of adhesions, scar tissue, and calcification.

Shockwave is used in combination with massage therapy techniques to maximize our treatment protocol and decrease recovery time.

Most common indications include painful shoulder, adhesive capsulitis (frozen shoulder) epicondylitis (tennis & golf elbow), low back pain, achilles tendon pain, tendonitis, and trigger points.

A high-intensity acoustic wave interacts with the tissues of the body, this leads to a cascade of beneficial effects: neovascularization, reduction of chronic inflammation, stimulation of collagen production, creating an optimal healing environment.

TARGETED RADIOFREQUENCY THERAPY (TRT)

Targeted Radiofrequency Therapy (TRT) distributes high frequency electromagnetic energy into the desired tissue which leads to selective tissue hyperthermy.

The combination of the therapist’s manual skills and the targeted radiofrequency therapy makes this therapeutic concept the most modern therapy recovery and therapeutic results.

The most common indications include local muscle spasm, trigger points, myalgia, tendinitis, neck pain, and post-traumatic edema. The most common applications are for neck pain and restriction, shoulder injuries, frozen shoulder, low back pain, muscle relaxation and regeneration, pain relief for joint and muscle issues.

PULSED ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELD THERAPY (PEMF)

Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy (PEMF) is the application of powerful pulsating magnetic waves, used therapeutically to help cells regain the energy they require for optimal health and vitality.

PEMF is used as one of many modalities in the massage therapy treatment protocol to enhance healing, reduce pain, and improve overall wellness.

SPINAL DECOMPRESSION

Spinal decompression is used in combination with massage therapy, electrical muscle stimulation, laser and PEMF.

Spinal decompression is a mechanical therapy that uses automated decompressive forces to mobilise joints, relieve the pressure over neuro-spinal structures, and relax and elongate soft tissues.

The goal of treatment is to unload and release neural structures and soft tissues of the spine in pain-relieving positions according to the patient’s condition.

This is specifically favorable in conditions such as bulging discs, degenerative disc disease, degenerative joint disease, discogenic pain, facet syndrome, herniated discs, hypomobility, joint pain, prolapsed discs, protruding discs, radicular pain, muscle spasm and spinal root impingement.

ELECTRICAL MUSCLE STIMULATION (EMS)

Electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) is a treatment that uses electrical impulses to stimulate muscles, which can help with a range of muscle issues:

Muscle strengthening: EMS can help strengthen weak muscles and can be used to rebuild muscle mass after an injury.

Pain relief: EMS can help reduce pain and discomfort.

Swelling reduction: EMS can help reduce swelling.

Wound healing: EMS can help wounds heal.

EMS is utilized as part of the lipedema and lymphedema protocols to reduce volume, tissue densification and pain.

EMS works by sending electrical impulses through paddles that are placed on the skin over the muscles being treated. The impulses mimic the action potential that the central nervous system sends to make muscles contract.

ULTRASOUND THERAPY

Ultrasound Therapy, which uses high-frequency sound waves to penetrate soft tissues, promote blood circulation, accelerate recovery, reduce inflammation, loosen adhesions, and treat soft tissue injuries of muscles, ligaments, synovium and tendons, promote blood circulation and accelerate recovery.

Ultrasound is used in conjunction with massage therapy as indicated by the presenting condition.

Ultrasound cavitation is also used within the lipedema treatment protocol to reduce tissue densification.

PNEUMATIC AND CRYO COMPRESSION THERAPY

Compression therapy is used for the treatment of lymphedema, venous insufficiency, DVT prophylaxis, post-operative edema and sports injuries.

The Bio Compression Pump, combined with arm or leg garments, mimics the normal pumping action of the lymphatic system.
The Bio Compression Pump promotes lymphatic flow by moving fluid in a physiologically correct distal to proximal (from the ends of your limb toward your torso) direction.

We utilize compression therapy in conjunction with massage manual therapy as indicated by the presenting condition – with massage being the primary modality of treatment.

Cold or Cryo Compression therapy combines cold and sequential compression to provide pain relief, reduction of inflammation, and assist with healing for acute and chronic issues.

The compression stimulates tissue repair by enhancing lymphatic function, removing edema from the injury site and encouraging oxygenated blood flow to the site leading to improved recovery.

CONTINUOUS PASSIVE MOTION (CPM)

Continuous Passive Motion (CPM) devices are used during the first phase of rehabilitation following lower limb joint surgeries or traumas.

The CPM device continuously and repeatedly moves the joint through a controlled range of motion.
Regular treatment increases the initially limited movement of the joint and is used to prevent negative effects of joint immobilization such as joint stiffness, swelling, poor articular cartilage nourishment, collagen loss or thromboembolic disease.

The therapy ensures safe exercise throughout the healing and repair process of the tissue by providing passive movement, reduces postoperative pain and minimizes chances of inflammation. CPM also helps increase range of motion and it has favorable effect on muscle strength. CPM stimulates chondrocyte metabolism which makes it important for joint regeneration processes.

Using CPM leads to reduction of the amount of medication, earlier discharge from hospital, less out-patient care and lower costs for the whole health care system.

OSCILLATION THERAPY

Oscillation therapy is utilized in combination with massage therapy for post-surgical recovery, lymphedema, post-mastectomy, orthopedic surgery recovery, within head and neck cancer lymphatic protocols and headache and migraine treatments.

Unique therapy method creates oscillations in the treated tissue using electrostatic attraction and friction, without the use of external mechanical forces.

It is very effective to reduce inflammation and swelling, with gentle vibrations to reduce pain symptoms.

LOW-INTENSITY LASER THERAPY (LILT) & PHOTOBIOMODULATION

Low-Intensity Laser Therapy (LILT), Photobiomodulation, Cold Laser, etc. is a light-based technology proven to be highly effective in the treatment of musculoskeletal problems, and wound healing, and other benefits.

The technology is non-invasive, non-toxic, and is currently utilized in many countries world-wide.

Photobiomodulation is utilized within the massage therapy treatment protocols for pain relief, decrease edema and stiffness, scar recovery, increase range of motion, faster return to activities after injury, trauma and surgery.

TRANSCUTANEOUS ELECTRICAL NERVE STIMULATION (TENS)

Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) is a therapy that uses low voltage electrical current to provide pain relief.

A TENS unit consists of a battery-powered device that delivers electrical impulses through electrodes placed on the surface of your skin. The electrodes are placed at or near nerves where the pain is located or at trigger points.

Utilizing TENS within our massage treatment protocol, enhances recovery from injury and pain.

CUPPING / NEGATIVE PRESSURE TREATMENT

Cupping or negative pressure treatment is utilized within a massage treatment plan as one of many modalities to enhance healing.

Our system creates specific targeted suction and negative pressure to reduce fascial restriction, soften tight muscles, improve circulation, and promote lymphatic drainage. Cupping is utilized in both the lipedema and lymphedema treatment protocols.

This can lead to reduced pain, increased flexibility, and a more revitalized feeling throughout your body.
